Smart remote control, also known as infrared repeater, is a basic component of smart home system. Its function is to control electrical appliances controlled by infrared remote control, such as TV, CD player, amplifier, air conditioner, etc.
Infrared remote control is a widely used control method. At present, most traditional home appliances that support remote control use infrared remote control. Infrared remote control has the characteristics of low cost, easy implementation, mature technology and convenient control. However, because infrared remote control uses invisible infrared light, if there is an obstruction between the remote control and the controlled device, the control effect will be weakened, and even control will not be possible. Therefore, infrared remote control is generally directional and should be operated in the direction of the remote control receiver of the controlled device without any obstruction.
Smart remote control generally uses multiple infrared transmitters to form an omnidirectional infrared transmission component, that is, it can transmit infrared control signals in all directions. As long as there is no obvious obstruction, the control signal can reach the controlled device. The control signals used by infrared remote control devices can generally be added to smart remote controls through learning. For some commonly used large-brand electrical appliances, such as air conditioners and televisions, which use fixed infrared control signals, some smart remote controls can be built-in or directly downloaded from the Internet to achieve control of various electrical appliances. The cost is relatively low and the application is very wide.
There are a few points to note when using smart remote control:
1. Although the infrared control signal emitted by the smart remote control is omnidirectional, it may still be blocked and affect the control effect, so the smart remote control can only be used in a single room and should be placed in a relatively open and unobstructed location.
2. The infrared light signal used by the smart remote control is easily interfered by sunlight, so the effect is greatly reduced outdoors, and it will also be affected to a certain extent in places where the sun is directly exposed, so the smart remote control components should generally avoid direct sunlight.
3. The infrared LED transmitting tube of the smart remote control is inside, and the external material needs to transmit infrared light, so dark red and purple transparent plastic materials are generally selected. This material appears black from the outside under daily light conditions, so the smart remote control components are generally designed to be all black or the area that needs to be transparent is black. Pay attention to this color problem when matching with home appliances.
4. Infrared remote control is a unidirectional control method and generally does not have the function of status feedback. Therefore, when using devices controlled by smart remote control, if the reliability requirements are high, the working status of the device should be fed back to the system through other methods.
